Breast Lifts Increasing At Twice the Rate of Breast Augmentation

Breast Augmentation continues to be the most popular cosmetic surgery for women in the United States, with more than 300,000 procedures performed in 2013. But the latest statistics released by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) show that breast lift surgery is on the rise. Since 2000, there has been a 70 percent increase in breast lifts (also known as a mastopexy). The ASPS reports that more than 90,000 breast lifts were performed in 2013. The new statistics reveal that women between the ages of 30 to 54 made up nearly 70 percent of the breast lift procedures conducted in 2013.

Growing Interest in Breast Lifts

Recently we have noticed an increased interest in breast lifts without implants. A mastopexy can help move a woman's nipples to a more youthful, perky position on the breast. It also helps create a more beautiful breast shape. The ideal patient for this procedure still has full breasts, but nipples or breast tissue that is positioned too low on the chest. Women who have a more deflated breast (which is common after childbirth) will do better with implants and a lift.
