Mini Facelift vs Full Facelift

Mini Facelift vs Full Facelift

Many of our patients share with us that their aging facial features make them look older than they feel. Unfortunately, there are no diet or exercise changes that can reverse the facial signs of aging.

facelift is one of the most restorative procedures performed by plastic surgeons. A common question we receive during a facelift consultation is what is the difference between a mini facelift and a full facelift?

Mini Facelift vs Full Facelift

For patients with minimal signs of aging, a mini facelift may be the appropriate procedure. A mini facelift is performed with limited incisions and surgical dissection, which decreases the amount of post-operative swelling and bruising and gives a faster recovery.

However, with a more limited surgery, the effects may not be as long lasting and patients with excessive skin laxity of the neck and severe jowls are usually not good candidates.

A full facelift consists of incisions around the ear and under the chin. Through these incisions, a plastic surgeon is able to tighten the underlying soft tissue to improve the jowls and give a tighter neck and jaw line. Excess skin is removed giving a smoother and more youthful contour to the neck and face. Other procedures such as eyelid and brow procedures are frequently performed at the same time to achieve total facial rejuvenation.
